Sohar International Urea & Chemical Industries SAOC (SIUCI) has been awarded ISO-9001-2008, ISO-14001-2004 and OHSAS-1800-2007 Certifications effect July 27, 2011 for implementing the Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems in accordance with the International Standards.

The Sohar Fertiliser Project of SIUCI, promoted by Sheikh Suhail Salim Bahwan is one of the largest industrial investments by an individual within the GCC countries. The Project commenced Granular Urea production in May 2009 and within a short time SIUCI has established an excellent reputation globally as a producer of high quality Granular Urea.

At SIUCI Quality, Environment, Health & Safety are accorded highest priority. A number of Socio-economic benefits are outcome of SIUCI’s Sohar Fertiliser Project, the foremost being contribution to the strategic national objective of industrial diversification and employment generation for Nationals.

At the Project execution stage, SIUCI inducted young technically qualified Nationals as Trainees and gave them extensive class room, workshop and on-the-job training. They are now working in various departments, such as O&M, Technical Services, Laboratory, Materials. In addition Nationals have been inducted in various non-technical functions.

SIUCI has made adequate arrangements for its future growth. Subject to allocation of Natural Gas (raw material) and grant of the required approvals, SIUCI is committed to enhance its production capacity and Oman’s position as a leading global supplier of Granular Urea.
